Entry requirements : By audition - working at grade 7 levelSince its formation in 1970, our Orchestra has earned the reputation of being one of the leading youth orchestras in the country.The LYSO has toured annually for over thirty years, performing in concert halls over three continents, and proved itself to be a marvellous ambassador for Lancashire.Lancashire County Council and its Music Service enable and support the members of the Schools and Youth Symphony Orchestras to study and perform the best of classical repertoires, to the highest standards.We are certainly very fortunate in Lancashire to have such high standards of musical excellence. I am sure you are aware that The Friends of the Lancashire Schools Symphony Orchestras is a registered charity, which supports both orchestras by raising funds to help orchestra members, by subsidising training courses, assistance with tours, and other activities with the Orchestra.
