National Festival of Music for Youth 2010
LYSO - National Festival of Music for Youth, Regional event, Rochdale Town Hall, Sunday 21 March 2010
(Session No. 3 - 3.30pm to 5.30pm)
Every year, Lancashire ensembles participate in the National Festival of Music for Youth. Last year the
orchestra participated in the Regional Festival and were invited to perform at the National Festival held at
Symphony Hall, Birmingham.
The regional event takes place at Rochdale Town Hall, The Esplanade, Rochdale OL16 1AB from 9.30am
until 5.30pm, with the day divided into three sessions. The LYSO will play in the final session between
3.30pm and 5.30pm.
If successful they will also perform at the National Festival on the 10 July.
As the LYSO will be rehearsing on the 21 March, they will travel by coach from Lostock Hall Community High
School as follows:
1.30 pm : Depart LHCHS
2.30 pm : Arrive Rochdale Town Hall
3.30pm - 5.30pm : Festival
6.30pm - 6.45pm : Arrive LHCHS
The coach will be supervised by LMS staff.
Usual concert dress is to be worn and as changing facilities are limited it will be necessary to arrive in
concert dress.
Refreshments will be on sale, but members may wish to bring a packed lunch or a snack.
Players will remain on the premises and will be supervised by Music Service staff.
Parents who wish to hear the ensembles may attend the event, but it is essential that all players travel on
the coach provided. However, if parents who attend the event wish their children to make the return journey
with them, please inform the Music Service before the 19 March by phoning Ann Connal on 01257 517108.
