LYSO - Festival of Music for Youth 2009
Lancashire Youth Symphony Orchestra participation in the National Festival of Music for Youth, Regional event, at
Rochdale Town Hall, The Esplanade, Rochdale OL16 1AB on Sunday 15 March 2009 (Session No. 3 - 3.30pm to 5.30pm)
Every year, Lancashire ensembles participate in the National Festival of Music for Youth. In recent years our ensembles have had
great success at the National Festival and have subsequently been invited to perform in the Schools Proms. For the first time, the
LYSO will be representing Lancashire at the Regional Festival in the 2009 session. If successful at the regional event, the LYSO will
be invited to perform at the National Festival held at Symphony Hall, Birmingham on the 11th July and this could result in an
invitation to perform at the Schools Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, London, which is held on the 9, 10 and 11 November 2009.
The regional event takes place at Rochdale Town Hall, from 9.30am until 5.30pm, with the day divided into three sessions. The
LYSO will play in the final session between 3.30pm and 5.30pm.
As the LYSO will be rehearsing on the 15 March, they will travel by coach from Lostock Hall Community High School as follows:

Arrive Rochdale Town Hall
2.30 pm
Festival
3.30pm to 5.30pm
Arrive LHCHS
6.30pm - 6.45pm
Coaches will be supervised by LMS staff.
Usual concert dress is to be worn and as changing facilities are limited it will be necessary to arrive in concert dress.
Refreshments will be on sale, but members may wish to bring a packed lunch or a snack.
Players will remain on the premises and will be supervised by Music Service staff.
Parents who wish to hear the ensembles may attend the event, but it is essential that all players travel on the coaches provided.
However, if parents who attend the event wish their children to make the return journey with them, please inform the Music Service
before the 13 March by phoning Ann Connal on 01257 517108.
It is of course vital that all orchestra members are available for this event.
